About Us
The Willetton Child Care Centre (WCCC) is a community based not-for-profit service, which means all proceeds are reinvested in the management and development of the centre. Established in 1986, the WCCC is licensed to care for 48 children per day from 0 to 5 years old. As a registered ‘not-for profit’ the WCCC is supported by a volunteer Board of elected community members. The role of the Board is to support the centre Director and to oversee the management responsibilities of the centre.
Being in nature offers many unique sensory experiences that children need to excel in life. We enjoy our natural environment in all seasons; come rain or shine. Our passion to create a 'home away from home' helps the children to feel a sense of comfort and belonging. Our goal as teachers is to create quality learning experiences and environments where children have time to explore, learn and create.
As Educators, we believe children are competent and capable learners and they naturally learn from the people and environment around them. We employ the Reggio Emilia philosophy of learning to build strong relationships between the children in our care, their families and the broader community through an experiential learner-driven environment. We understand that the environment we create needs to be purposeful and allow for more than one outcome. We see the value in peer- teaching a theory where children are able to learn from and with each other. This is valuable to both the younger and the older child; as the younger child can explore different perspectives and new skills from older children and the older child learns the importance of patience, care, respect and empathy.
